Six neighbourhoods worth knowing

Each one has a different character. Here's how to read the city.

Gastown
15 min from BC Place

Gastown

Cobblestone streets, the iconic steam clock, and the city's best craft beer bars. The natural home base for the first post-match drink.

The Seawall
World-class views

The Seawall

A 28km oceanfront promenade with mountains at every turn. Rent a bike, walk at sunset, or just stand there feeling fortunate.

Yaletown
10 min from BC Place

Yaletown

Converted warehouse district with upscale patios and cocktail bars. The neighbourhood for a proper pre-match dinner reservation.

Granville Island
Best market in the city

Granville Island

Vancouver's unmissable public market — local cheeses, fresh sushi, artisan bread. A perfect morning before a late kick-off.

Stanley Park
Urban wilderness

Stanley Park

400 hectares of old-growth forest steps from downtown. The seawall loop, totem poles, and views straight across the water.

Whistler
Essential day trip

Whistler

2 hours north on the Sea-to-Sky highway — one of the great drives in Canada. Mountain biking, glacier trails, and a village that lives to host.

Everything you need to plan your trip

Transit, weather, money, connectivity, and stadium logistics — all the practical information, none of the filler.

Take the SkyTrain

BC Place is a 5-minute walk from Stadium-Chinatown Station on the Expo Line. On match days the SkyTrain runs extra service — it's faster and cheaper than Uber, which will surge heavily around kick-off.

Get a Compass Card

Buy a Compass Card at any SkyTrain station for a $6 refundable deposit. Load it up and tap in/out. A single adult fare is $3.25 CAD. Day passes are available for $11.25 CAD and cover unlimited travel.

Uber & taxis

Uber and Lyft both operate in Vancouver. Expect surge pricing immediately before and after matches — budget $20–40 CAD for a ride from downtown if you miss the SkyTrain window.

Walking downtown

Vancouver's downtown core is extremely walkable. BC Place, Rogers Arena, Gastown, and the waterfront are all within 20 minutes on foot from most hotels.

💡

Pro tip: The last SkyTrain runs around 1:15am on weekdays and 2:15am on weekends. Plan around this to avoid the post-match Uber surge.
