Getting to Vancouver

Direct flights from Tokyo (NRT or HND) to Vancouver (YVR) take around 9–10 hours — one of the most convenient routes to Canada from Asia. Air Canada and JAL both operate direct services.

Entry requirement: eTA required. Apply at canada.ca/en/immigration well before your trip.

Staying connected

Airalo is very popular among Japanese travellers and works seamlessly with Japanese phones. Canada's 5G network is fast — similar speeds to Japan. The 10 GB plan is perfect for a 1–2 week stay.

Getting around

BC Place is steps from Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station. Buy a Compass Card (eTA required deposit) at any station — day passes are japan1.25 CAD. On match days the SkyTrain is always faster than Uber, which surges heavily around kick-off.

💡 Last SkyTrain runs ~1:15am weekdays, ~2:15am weekends. Plan accordingly to avoid the post-match surge.

Money & tipping

Vancouver is an expensive city. Budget 🇯🇵5–35 CAD for lunch, eTA required0–100 for dinner. Prices are shown before 12% tax. Tipping 15–20% is mandatory at sit-down restaurants — card machines prompt you automatically.

Fan community in Vancouver

Vancouver has one of the largest Japanese-Canadian communities in North America, centred around the historic Japantown area. You'll find authentic Japanese restaurants, Japanese grocery stores, and Japanese-speaking locals throughout the city.

Weather in June–July

Expect 20–26°C during the day, cooler evenings around 14°C. Pack a light waterproof jacket — rain is possible. BC Place has a retractable roof so all matches run regardless of weather.

💡 Vancouver's pace is slower than Tokyo — allow extra time for everything, especially transit around match days.
